Diazepam
Indications/Uses
Neurotic states, psychosomatic states, rheumatic & traumatic muscular disorders. Alcohol w/drawal symptoms, status epilepticus, pre-op & post-op conditions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/IV Status epilepticus, tetanus or severe muscle spasm Adult 5-10 mg. Childn 1-2 mg.
Contraindications
Severe psychoses; acute narrow-angle glaucoma; acute asthma attacks; myasthenia gravis. 1st trimester of pregnancy. Premature infants or neonates.
Special Precautions
Epileptics; CV, hepatic & renal disease; resp insufficiency. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Neonates. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Mental disturbance, drowsiness, amnesia, dependence; blurred vision; urinary retention; resp depression, hypotension. Ataxia, pulmonary depression, tremor, vertigo, constipation, slurred speech.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ anticoagulant & muscle relaxants.
